Recording Groups, Palettes & Submasters

Edward Updated by Edward

Groups and palettes are used to store attribute information for later recall. For NEO, groups and palettes are stored together. A Group is a type of palette that can contain a snapshot of all the attributes of the fixtures stored in it but can be used as a selection-only tool (i.e. selects the fixtures without applying any attributes). A Palette generally contains a defined set of attributes of the selected fixtures. For a more detailed description, see Palettes, Groups, Submasters & Shortcuts.

Recording Examples

 [1] [Thru] [6] [ENTER] – Select Channels 1-6.

[RECORD] [GROUP] ‘(SELECTED)’ [EDIT] ‘TEXT’ Downstage [ENTER] – Records a group with the name “Downstage” containing the Channels 1-6. This can be used later to select this group of channels aimed at downstage.

The following is an example of recording a color palette. There are many ways to set the color of a fixture to the desired hue. In this example, the color is set by referencing a color filter (gel).

[7] [THRU] [1][0] [ENTER] – Select Channels 7-10.

[@] [COLOR] [4][.][4][7] [ENTER] – Set the color mixer of Fixtures 7-10 to match a Rosco #47 gel.

[RECORD] [COLOR] “SELECTED’ [EDIT] ‘TEXT’ Rose Purple [ENTER] – Records a color palette with the name “Rose Purple” containing Channels 7-10 set to the chosen color. The palette number is assigned sequentially. In this case, it is the first color palette to be recorded, thus assigned #1.

[1][2] [FULL] – Select Channel 12 & set intensity to 100%.

[POSITION] – Display the Position tab in the Side Bar Cue List. Use the encoder wheels to position the beam to the desired location.

[RECORD] [POSITION] ‘SELECTED’ [EDIT] ‘TEXT’ DSR [ENTER] – Records a position palette with the name “DSR” containing Channel 10 set to the chosen position. Assigned number is 1.
