Blind Mode

Edward Updated by Edward

Blind mode allows the editing of cues without affecting the live output. Pressing the [BLIND] key selects this mode. The command line target changes to “Blind” (in red), the command line edit box is outlined in red, the main display background changes to light grey, and some of the GUI buttons along the top are greyed-out or changed.

Selected vs Active Cue – For Blind Mode, it is important to distinguish the selected cue from the active cue. In the Sidebar Cue List, the active cue has a gold border and the selected cue has a blue background. The default is for the selected cue to follow the active cue. However, the selected cue can be changed by using the [NEXT] & [LAST] keys, tapping or clicking on the desired cue, using [CUE] (#) [ENTER] for the current cue list, or [Cue] (cue list #) [CUE] ‘/’ cue (#) [ENTER] to select a cue in a different cue list.

In Blind Mode, any channel modifications are made to the selected cue, whereas in Live Mode, they affect the live cue. At any time, the selected and active cue can be resynchronized by pressing [BLIND] again.

Fixtures may be selected and modified using the same methods as in live mode, although some functions are not available as indicated by the greyed-out buttons in the figure above.  A special set of buttons (outlined in red above) is provided for instructing the software in applying any changes to the cue list.  The number of buttons and their labels are different depending on the tracking mode.

(channel list) [@] [LIVE] [ENTER] – Sets the channels in the list to the values currently in the active cue.

(channel list) [@] (attribute family key) [LIVE] [ENTER] – Sets the channels in the list to the values of the specified attribute family in the active cue.

Changes made in Blind Mode get stored in the show file under the following conditions:

  • A new cue or cue list is selected.
  • Blind Mode is closed by selecting [LIVE] or tapping one of the special exit buttons along the top of the Main Display (except “Exit Blind (Abandon)”. Pressing [LIVE] is the same as tapping “Exit Blind Track Forward”. The other choices are “Exit Blind Track Back” and “Exit Blind Cue Only”.

Full Tracking Buttons (shown above):

  • Exit Blind (Abandon) – Return to live mode without recording any changes to the cue list.
  • Exit Blind Track Fwd – Record any changes and track them forward.
  • Exit Blind Track Back – Record any changes and update previous cues with tracking information.
  • Exit Blind Cue Only – Record changes to currently selected cue only.

Hybrid Tracking Buttons:

  • Exit Blind (Abandon) – Return to live mode without recording any changes to the cue list.
  • Exit Blind (Update) – Record changes to currently selected cue.
