Encoders
Using the console’s rotary encoders is the quickest way to set attributes directly. The encoder wheel assignments are defined in the profile for the fixture and mapped to the attribute families Intensity, Position, Color, Beam, Edge. Use the attribute family keys [INTENSITY], [POSITION], [COLOR], [BEAM], [EDGE] to select the attributes to be adjusted. If there are more than 4 attributes assigned to a family, repeated pressing of the family key will cycle the encoders through the list. Each encoder has a small display showing the current attribute and its value.
To set an attribute’s value, use the family keys to load the desired attribute into an encoder. Rotating the encoder wheel will adjust the attribute, clockwise rotation increases the value while counter clockwise rotation decreases the value. Finer control over the adjustment can be accomplished by holding down the [SHIFT] key while rotating the encoder. Maximum and minimum values can be set quickly by holding down the [+] key while rotating the encoder.
Each encoder wheel is also a button, which when pressed and released will put the appropriate attribute on the Command Line to allow direct numerical values to be entered.
To return an attribute family or all attributes, use the [HOME] key. Press and release the [HOME] key to return all attributes (except dimmer) to their initial values or [HOME] + ([INTENSITY] | [POSITION] | [COLOR] | [BEAM] | [EDGE]) to selectively home an attribute family. A single attribute can be homed by holding down the [HOME] key and pressing the desired encoder wheel.
Palettes
Palettes contain reference attribute data that can be applied to channels. See Palettes, Groups, Submasters and Shortcuts for information on palette types and recording groups and palettes.
The form of the command is: [@] ([GROUP] | [SUB] | [INTENSITY] | [POSITION] | [COLOR] | [BEAM] | [EDGE] | [SHIFT] + [SUB] ‘PRESET’) (#) [ENTER].
Normally, only the channels stored in a palette can be applied. However, the palettes in each attribute family can be set individually to be virtual. In that mode the following rules apply:
- The selected channel(s) is/are already present in the palette.
- From another fixture of the same type already present.
- From the first fixture stored in the palette that contains relevant data.
Another way to apply a palette is to have the palette windows displayed on the secondary monitor, select the desired channels and then tap the desired palette to apply it.
The [LOAD] key can be used also to select the channels and apply all values stored in a palette.
