Matrix

Edward Updated by Edward

A lighting matrix is a simple two-dimensional layout where fixtures from the system can be placed in an arrangement representing the actual position on stage. Below is an example of a matrix layout for lights placed around the proscenium arch.

Each fixture or cell of a multi-cell fixture is represented by a small hexagon with the patch address inside.

Various controls to aid in creating or modifying a matrix are located along the top of the window.

On the top left of the window is a list of available matrices that have been created previously. To edit any matrix, click on the name and the right-hand grid will change to show the definition.

The bottom left of the window contains buttons to Add, Copy & Remove matrices. The “Copy Matrix” button has a pulldown menu with the following options:

Export matrix to CSV – Use this option to create a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file of the selected matrix that can be imported into another NEO system or show file.

Import matrix from CSV – Use this option to read in a previously saved matrix CSV file to a selected matrix. If no matrices are defined, you must create one using the “Add Matrix” option described below.

Rename – Allows the selected matrix to be renamed.

Cut, Copy, Paste – Perform the chosen operation on the selected fixtures in a matrix diagram.

Add selected matrix to another matrix – Use this option to add a copy of the selected matrix to another new or existing matrix. A dialog box will be displayed with a pulldown list to allow the selection of the destination matrix.
