Creating a New Show

Edward Updated by Edward

This chapter provides a tutorial of some basic operations to get you started with the NEO software using a small setup to illustrate procedures such as patching, controlling fixtures in Live, recording and using palettes, creating a cue list and running a show.

The following examples are shown using the NEO Console keys and touchscreen controls. For PC-based systems, there are GUI-based equivalent commands as described in Command Interface. Familiarize yourself with the Main Display as sections are referenced in the examples below.

The following examples are based on the default settings for System Properties. The important settings are:

  • The console mode is “Tracking
  • The “ON” level is 100%
  • The “Up/Down” level is 5%
  • Cue Time” & “Down Time” are set to 3.00 seconds
  • Cue Default Record Mode” is “Live”
  • Default Tracking Record Mode” is “Tracking”
  • Make Cue Active After Record Live” is “On”
  • Submasters, Palettes & Effects are included when recording cues

Tap the “Options” button in the lower left corner of the Main Display and tap “New Show” at the top of the popup menu. If there’s a show with unsaved changes already loaded in the active database, a dialog will be presented to allow saving the current show before loading the new show.

The new show will have the name “Unnamed Show”. Later, this will be saved with the name “Quick Start”.
